Privacy Policy
Tagalong (tagalong.blog) is a platform for travel journals, operated by Rapid Strategy Inc. (“we”, “us”). It hosts travel blogs, including blogs on their own web addresses (such as hippieplayboy.com). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Tagalong or any blog on it, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- When you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo. We request only Google’s basic sign-in permissions (openid, email, profile). We never see your Google password and cannot access anything else in your Google account.
- When you sign in or sign up by email: your email address.
- Email updates: if you follow a blog, your email address and your subscription status.
- What you add: comments you post and settings you choose (such as light or dark appearance).
- Technical information: cookies that keep you signed in and remember your settings, and standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in, including on a blog’s own web address.
- To show your name and photo with your comments and on your profile.
- To send the emails you ask for: sign-in links and, if you follow a blog, updates about new posts and trips. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information from Google
Tagalong’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email address and profile photo only to create your account, sign you in and show who you are on the site. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell it, and share it only with the service providers listed below as needed to run Tagalong, or where the law requires. You can remove Tagalong’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run parts of Tagalong for us, under their own privacy and security commitments: Vercel (hosting and file storage), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery) and Google (sign-in).
- Blog owners: the owner of a blog you follow or comment on can see your name and email address, so they can manage their followers and comments.
- Everyone: comments you post, with your name and photo, are visible to people who can read that post.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or Tagalong.
If you run a blog on Tagalong and connect social media accounts to share your posts, those connections are handled by our social posting provider (Post for Me) and are subject to each network’s terms.
Cookies
We use only cookies needed for the site to work: to keep you signed in (on tagalong.blog and on a blog’s own web address), to protect sign-in against forgery, to remember that you follow a blog, and to remember your appearance setting. Blocking them may stop sign-in and settings from working.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is active. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending updates straight away. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider.
Your choices and rights
You can see your details on your profile, unsubscribe from any update email, and sign out at any time. To access, correct or delete your information, email hello@tagalong.blog. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law; we will honor them.
Children
Tagalong is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), signed and httpOnly session cookies, and limited access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Where it is processed
Tagalong is run from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will tell you by email or on the site.
